Questions to Ask Yourself Before Contacting

Are you wanting to contact me for a collaboration, or for me to become an affiliate for your products or services?

Do you have a product or service that fits into at least one of the categories my blog focuses on? Have I done a blog post over anything similar to what you sell or advertise? Does my content convey that I’d be interested in what you have to offer?

Would you like to reach an audience who are (1) mostly women in their teens and twenties, (2) who are avid readers, (3) who are interested in reading young adult fiction (3) who enjoy pop culture such as literature, music, movies, & tv shows, (4) who want to learn more about hair care and beauty, (5) who are interested in organization and/or decor, or (6) who are looking for advice, growth, or direction?

If You’re an Author or Publisher and Wish to Work with Me, Please Read Below

For If You Want Me to Review Your Books: My Review Policy

I will gladly accept books for review! I accept ARCs, Uncorrected Proofs and finished paperback or hardcover copies. I will only accept traditionally published print copies. I will not accept ebooks, audiobooks, PDFs, or self-published novels. Any ARC or Uncorrected Proof I receive will absolutely not be sold.

If you are an author or publisher and would like me to review your book, please contact me. It will go straight to my email. Please keep in mind that I am located in the United States. I read roughly 50-100 books a year, and read entirely based on mood or personal preference which is why it is important that you only contact me about a particular book if it’s within my preferred genres (listed directly below this paragraph).

Genres I prefer to read include anything and everything in the broad Young Adult and New Adult age categories (though I gravitate heavily towards contemporary romance and fantasy). I occasionally drift outside these age ranges to read Adult or Middle Grade as well.

While I absolutely love myself a series, I am strict about reading series in order. If a book is not the start of a series and I don’t own the previous installments, I would appreciate it if you could provide the previous books. Sometimes, it may not be required though, as I might own the previous installments so please always mention it or ask the question in your initial contact with me!

I will provide a 100% honest and respectful review, whether positive or negative. If I do not like a book, I will say so. However, I will talk about the book politely and honestly, and give an explanation as to why I didn’t like parts of it. My reviews will always be respectful. In my review, I’ll mention that you sent me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review and that there was absolutely no compensation involved and never will be.

Reviews will include:

• An image of the book cover
• Basic information about the book (publication date, publisher, page count, format)
• A synopsis or brief summary
• Links to Goodreads, Book Depository, Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and/or other bookselling platforms
• My thoughts
• Occasionally (but not always) some aesthetically pleasing photos of the book taken by me (most likely for Bookstagram)
• A rating

I post reviews here, as might also post them Goodreads and Bookstagram. There is no guarantee that I post the review on these other platforms though, and there’s also no guarantee that I review your book within a certain time period (unless you specify that in your original email to me and I agree). I am a Bookseller at Barnes & Noble and a full time graduate student getting my MA in English. Therefore, those responsibilities do come first. But I can assure you that I will try my best to keep review books on the top of my To-Be-Read Pile, especially books I have personally requested!

And although I normally finish all books provided to me, if I find your book inappropriate, offensive, problematic, or foresee that a review can’t be provided for these reasons, I will notify you.

In conclusion, if you think the book in question will interest me, please contact me through my contact page including the title, author name, blurb and other relevant information. I will consider all review requests that meet the above guidelines. Though requests from publicists, authors, and publishers (especially those I have worked with in the past) will be given top priority.

I appreciate all emails that I receive. Often, I’m so busy with work and school that it’s hard for me to answer all my emails. I answer the ones I’m interested in and many times the rest go unanswered. I apologize in advance for that.

If You Want Something In Addition To or Instead of a Review of Your Books

I would also be very glad to host giveaways, author interviews, or guest posts. If I have not mentioned whatever you have in mind, contact me anyway to find out if I’d be interested.

Interviews/Guest Posts: I prefer to interview an author only if I’ve read and recommend their novels. I am willing to host both authors and other bloggers. Please contact me through my contact page to arrange interviews or guest blogs.

Contests/giveaways: I would love to host contests and giveaways, preferably for books/authors I am familiar with. Please contact me through my contact page to arrange a contest and/or giveaway.

Compensation: I do not receive monetary compensation for my reviews although review copies may be provided by the author, publisher, or a publicist. I keep a fair amount of the review copies I receive but I might someday use them for giveaways. These free copies do not guarantee a positive review. I reserve the right to write negative reviews.

I do not host advertising.
